Copepods Cyclops (water flea), Theyand What are dangerous to themselves or to fry fish in an aquarium?
Q: I these errors in my tank are very small 2-3 mm long with a black eye in the center of his head. The color is gray. Go hit the water in most spasmodic movements.
What are these?
A:
It's more like it, is a Cyclops (a type of copepods), but vary 1-3 mm in size. This is called a Cyclops, because of the unique perspective. This woman has two sets of eggs near the base of his tail.
A little about Cyclops;
HABITAT:
Cyclops live in both freshwater ponds and lakes. They prefer still water areas with a large amount of algae.
ITS PLACE IN THE FOOD CHAIN:
Cyclops are omnivores, they eat animals, small algae, detritus, but not normally fish. But small fry can be harmed by these copepods. Some species of Cyclops are not free living, existing as parasites instead of fish, but it is not common. Fish lovers tropical Cyclopoida Native use as live fish food proteins, especially for immature fish, and just a twist of fate, some species have been found Cyclops Day of fish larvae, particularly in fish hatcheries.
Cyclops are usually consumed by Phantom midge larvae and water mites.
REPRODUCTION:
The cyclops woman carries her eggs in the back of his body. There are fewer men than women in the labor, and males are smaller. Females are often observed while swimming to have paired egg sacs, and most species are capable of explosive outbreaks when the water temperature and other conditions are optimal.
CONCLUSION:
Cyclops can also serve as hosts of the Guinea worm (in humans, but generally no fish) and the fish tapeworm. These rare cases of Cyclops, and many aquarists consider useful for feeding fish and even sell them. I would not be too concerned about them for most aquariums, as methods of cleaning your aquarium, such as vacuuming are performed. The exception would probably be with the fish. In this case, blank "> go empty gravel and rinsing off of living plants in a solution of diluted bleach (living plants can handle a solution of 25 / 1 provided rinsing) is in order. Note that these copepods do not like areas with high current and not as much algae, change if the conditions go a long way in the control of the Cyclops.
