Wrapped in the northeast corner of Bastrop County almost to the line of Lee County is asleep "Burb" Paige. Her height is approx. 535 'The climate is moderate year round. The school system is Bastrop ISD and depending on where you live children could attend Lost Pines Elementary, Bastrop Middle School or Bastrop High School. Paige was created in 1872 by the Houston and Texas Central Railway. Paige has been named one of the civil engineers who worked on the railroad. There was a station on Paige until 1876, then moved to its current location about 3 miles east. Fire Service Volunteers was created in 1982 with the community center Paige, and Paige had a post office in the city since1874. In those days, most of the population was German descent was much of central Texas. Paige population has fluctuated over the years. In the late 1880s, the city was said to have a population of 500. At that time, the station Paige was a shipping point for livestock such as cows and pigs. Local industry includes a pickle, milk products and manufactures brooms. Paige is approx. 40 miles outside of Austin on Highway 290. Bastrop is 14 miles away on Highway 21, and almost all the people all want or need, with cafes, two grocery stores, warehouse stores as Home Depot and Lowes on the way, excellent restaurants, a cinema and bowling. Halfway to Bastrop from Paige on Highway 21 is Lake Bastrop, which offers camping sites, swimming beaches, boat rentals and boat launch on the coast north and south. If you decide to head to Smithville, the town where the movie Hope Floats was shot is a little less than 13 miles on FM 2104. Just before arriving at Smithville on the west side of the road is Buecher Lake State Park. If you feel like you can get coast in the Gulf in less than two hours of Paige. Circle D, Pioneer Pines Farms, Pine Valley and Pine Tree Cattle Ranch are some subdivisions within the scope Paige offered by residential housing in rural areas in the "Lost Pines" of Bastrop County. Paige The region is also Full of wonderful ranches and recreational properties (great for hunting) and periodically come on the market.
